Building Homes and Hope: A Heartfelt Thank You to Our AmeriCorps NCCC Maple6 Team

At Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity, we believe in the power of community—and this summer, we saw that power in action through the incredible efforts of the AmeriCorps NCCC Maple 6 team. For eight weeks, spanning from July to September, this dedicated group of volunteers worked tirelessly alongside our Habitat staff and local volunteers, making monumental progress on our twin home project in Red Wing. Their contributions were not just about hammering nails or framing walls; they were about building a future for two deserving families.

Building Together: AmeriCorps NCCC's Impact

From the very beginning, the AmeriCorps NCCC team tackled every challenge with enthusiasm and grit. They framed the basement and main floor, installed doorways, and set the trusses—transforming an empty foundation into a structure that is ready for the next phase of construction. Their hard work didn’t just move us forward on the physical build; it brought us closer to achieving our mission of providing affordable, safe homes for local families. The future homeowners, who have been working alongside our team, are now one step closer to the dream of owning their own home.

And that’s what makes the AmeriCorps NCCC team’s contribution so powerful. Their commitment and teamwork have left an enduring mark, not just on the homes themselves, but on the lives of the families who will soon live in them. It’s not just about building homes—it’s about building a foundation for a brighter future, for these families and for our community.

The Importance of Supporting Volunteer Efforts

While the AmeriCorps NCCC team’s dedication has made a tremendous impact, the reality is that none of this would be possible without the support of people like you—our local advocates, donors, and volunteers. Programs like AmeriCorps NCCC thrive because of communities that rally behind them. Hosting teams like Maple 6 is a major part of our work at Habitat, but it’s also a responsibility that requires resources, funding, and community support.

Here’s how you can help continue the impact of volunteer groups like AmeriCorps NCCC:

  • Donate: Financial contributions help us provide the materials, tools, and resources needed for our volunteers to succeed. Whether it’s providing lumber for framing or meals for hardworking teams, your donations directly support the work that builds homes and hope.

  • Advocate: Spread the word about the incredible work being done by Habitat and AmeriCorps NCCC. Talk to your friends, family, and coworkers about the importance of affordable housing and the role volunteers play in making it a reality.

  • Volunteer: We are always looking for more hands to help build! Whether you join us on-site or assist in other ways, your time and energy are invaluable. Encourage others to get involved too—there’s no greater feeling than knowing you helped create a home for a family in need.

A Community Celebration

To honor the NCCC team’s incredible contributions, the Catholic Daughters helped us host a celebration picnic at Bay Point Park. It was a heartwarming event where Habitat staff, volunteers, board members, and homeowners came together to express their gratitude. The picnic served as a reminder that the work we do is not only about homes but about building a stronger, more connected community.

As the AmeriCorps NCCC volunteers head to their next projects, we hope they carry with them the pride of all they accomplished here in Goodhue County. They have left behind more than just completed tasks—they have left behind a lasting legacy of service, commitment, and hope.

Your Support Matters

The work of building homes and strengthening communities doesn’t stop here. Habitat for Humanity relies on the generosity and involvement of people like you to continue providing affordable housing to families in need. As we move forward, we ask for your support—whether it’s through a financial donation, volunteering your time, or simply sharing our mission with others.

Together, we can continue to build homes, create opportunities, and change lives.

Thank you, AmeriCorps NCCC Maple 6 team, for your hard work and dedication. And thank you to everyone who supports Habitat for Humanity. With your help, we are building a brighter future for our community—one home at a time. Let’s keep building!
