Homes are making a triumphant return to the historic St. John’s Hospital site in Red Wing. As the Executive Director of Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity, I’m thrilled to share that we’ve purchased this site from Mayo Clinic Health Systems for our pioneering large-scale housing project.
For over 30 years, Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity has been woven into the fabric of our community, building not just homes, but hope and lasting connections. This new project represents a significant step forward in our journey to create more affordable homeownership opportunities, enriching lives and strengthening the very essence of our community.
While in the early planning stages, this five-acre site holds the promise of offering affordable homeownership to 23 families. These families will actively contribute by building their homes, paying mortgages, and adding to the vibrant fabric of our community.
Over the next several years, we will need everyone’s contribution of time, talent, and financial support to raise an estimated $1.2 million and bring long-lasting, positive change to our community. Stay tuned for more details as we journey together towards creating homes, hope, and a stronger Goodhue County.
