Why Should You, Your Group, Your Business, or Your Church Invest in Habitat for Humanity?

There are many ways in which your service club, church, or business can get involved in the work of Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity. You could form a construction crew for one of our home building projects and spend the day pounding nails and sawing lumber. You could form a construction crew for one of our A Brush with Kindness (exterior home repair) projects. You could also make a donation of cash, tools, or construction materials to a homebuilding or home repair project. Here are some of the benefits to you and your construction crew of donating with Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity.

  • Habitat for Humanity's work is both tangible and highly visible in the community. From a volunteer's perspective, it is the epitome of a "hands-on" experience.
  • Working with Habitat gives you the opportunity to acquire new skills: construction, communication, and much more!
  • A wide variety of people are involved in the work of Habitat for Humanity. Getting involved gives you the chance to meet and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • If you volunteer as a team, working at a Habitat construction site will help build community within your group.
  • By building with Habitat, you will help a family in need move from substandard housing into a safe, decent, and affordable home.
  • IT'S FUN!
  • Habitat for Humanity is not a Band-Aid approach. Habitat’s housing ministry offers a permanent solution to the need for affordable housing. As mortgage payments are recycled into more housing, the program endures and perpetuates itself; therefore, every dollar you donate multiplies itself several times over.
  • Donating funds or materials gives you or your church, business, or organization visibility and good public relations with Habitat volunteers and the community at large.
