Become a partner family

Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for our 2020 build season. For anyone who still wishes to apply or finish their application, we are working to address our goals. Please get your applications in to us no later than TBD. Pending the outcome of our current applications and those to come, we may close in Feb. or March. We are dedicated to helping as many families as we can.

A Brush With Kindness Program (ABWK)

Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) is a nationwide program serving low income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. This program enables Habitat to help existing homeowners continue to live independently and securely in their homes.

ABWK projects focus on exterior home repair services such as painting, minor repair work, roof work, and landscaping.

If selected you become a “Partner Family” in the Habitat organization, and agree to complete “Sweat Equity” (volunteer work with Habitat). We ask that all able-bodied residents work alongside volunteers. If physical labor is not possible, homeowners are able to serve as site host, work with Habitat office, or help with fundraising.

Projects are done at little cost to the homeowner through volunteers, donations, sweat equity, and no-interest loans.

Applicants will be assessed in regards to need, willingness to partner, and Habitat’s resources for ABWK projects at that time.

Affordable Housing

Our community needs more fact based information on the topic of Affordable Housing.

MYTH: Housing is a third world issue, not an American one.
FACT: Nowhere in the U.S. will a full-time minimum wage job pay for a median one-bedroom apartment; in 30 states, two minimum-wage jobs won’t cover the rent
